Black Friday Shopping Tips

Black Friday.

It’s the biggest shopping event in the UK calendar. A shopaholic’s dream. And it’s happening soon.

Let’s face it, it’s been a tough 12 months. Perhaps you’ve been furloughed? Forced to close your business? Or maybe even made redundant? It sucks. Lots of people are feeling the pinch. Which is why, it’s more important than ever to bag yourself a bargain and make the most of this year’s event.

Here we offer a few top tips to help you shop online like a pro.

How to get the most out of Black Friday

1. Save the date

Black Friday originated in the USA – and, traditionally, it falls on the first Friday after Thanksgiving. That means, this year, it’s on the 27th November (i.e. just in time for Christmas shopping and a christmas jumper!).

Make a note of this date. Write it in your diary. Set a reminder on your phone. But also watch out for any early-bird deals. Over the last few years, retailers have started to offer discounts throughout the entire month of November – so keep an eye out and don’t miss any pre-Black-Friday bargains.

2. Do a spot of window shopping

The key to Black Friday shopping is to have a plan. Trust us, it isn’t a day for impulse buying – and your credit card balance won’t thank you for heading online and grabbing every deal you see.

So, decide where you’d like to shop (Tokyo Laundry, obvs.) and take a look at their website in advance. Pick out a few items that, ideally, you’d like to buy. Or perhaps even create a little wish list. That’ll help you to stay focused on the big day and prevent those ‘in the moment’ purchases.

3. Set up online accounts

On your marks, get set, go. Bagging the best Black Friday deals is all about speed. Things sell out fast. Especially when there are great discounts on offer, like those available at Tokyo Laundry.

To get in the best starting position, it’s a good idea to open an online account with your favourite retailers – prior to the actual day. By saving your payment and delivery details, you can significantly speed up the checkout process, and make sure you get the best bargains before they’re gone.

4. Get social

Another fantastic Black Friday hack? Find the retailer on social media.

‘Like’ their Facebook page. Follow them on Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest. It’s also worth signing up to their mailing list. That way, you’ll get alerts on the best deals, as and when they’re revealed. And – as a loyal follower – you may even be given access to exclusive promos and discount codes.

 5. Decide on a budget

Yes, this one is a tad boring. But you should really decide how much you can afford to spend, before you start shopping. Have an absolute max figure in mind and try to stick to it.

Black Friday shouldn’t be a blow-out. In fact, if you shop wisely, it can actually help you to save money – particularly if buying Christmas pressies. There’s still a few weeks to go. So, why not try to save a few extra pennies? And make the most of the day, without breaking the bank in the process.
